University - The Particular

Hannover Medical School (MHH), founded in 1965, is the only exclusively medical university in Germany. Its integration model – featuring healthcare, research and teaching under one umbrella – has enabled MHH to occupy a leading place in the top-ranking group of German university clinics and to develop into a leading health campus. For almost twenty years the MHH has been offering the model degree programme "HannibaL" in the subject of Human Medicine – where teaching is highly patient-oriented from the very beginning.

Study Programme - Main Focus

MHH also attaches great importance to high-quality teaching. More than 3,800 young people study at Hannover Medical School (MHH). Courses on offer range from the major degree programmes in medicine and dentistry to bachelor’s and master's degree programmes in biosciences and health sciences, as well as specialised PhD programmes and postgraduate programmes, which are organised at MHH’s own graduate school, the Hannover Biomedical Research School (HBRS).

Background - The Insight

MHH has already been awarded the "Family-Friendly University Audit" certificate six times. There are three day-care centres on campus, offering all-day childcare facilities for a total of 404 children. These facilities are aimed at children of employees and students and include a crèche, kindergarten and after-school care. In addition, child care is offered during the Easter, summer and autumn holidays, as well as emergency childcare, which is open to all MHH members 365 days a year.

What's special here?

Many MHH students are highly committed, and become involved in a variety of student initiatives on campus. A few years ago, they won a "Studentenwerkspreis" award for transforming an unsightly cafeteria into a modern café. In this "living room" of the MHH, the student association "Campus Life" organises film evenings, debates and parties.
