University - The Particular

Located in northwest Germany, the University of Vechta sees itself as being defined by tradition and innovation. Cosmopolitan, personal and informal – these are the attributes that students can expect from a young, modern campus university offering excellent study conditions: individual support, international exchange programmes and extensive service structures ensure that the University of Vechta is a small but excellent place to study.

Study Programme - Main Focus

The University of Vechta inspires with a future-oriented profile: the two-subject Combined Studies Bachelor degree can be taken with or without a Teacher Education option. Students can choose from 16 different subjects. Three additional Bachelor programmes are offered in the area of Social Services (Social Work, Management of Social Services and Gerontology). Six additional Master's programmes (Master of Education, Master in Cultural Sciences, Master in Social Work, Master in Gerontology and Master in Geographies of Rural Areas) complete the course offerings.

Background - The Insight

The University of Vechta is one of the top ten universities in Germany when it comes to funding within the ERASMUS+ programme with partner countries. This means that numerous funding opportunities are available to students to study throughout the world. As such, the University of Vechta, characterised by the charm of a rural university as well as international mobility, is part of excellent regional and international networks. This fact was also confirmed by the COM2UNI award by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), conferred to highlight innovative programme structures in Teacher Education.

What's special here?

You wanna bet that Vechta students are sporty? In any case: in the final show of the "Wetten, dass…?" series presented by Thomas Gottschalk in December 2011, Vechta students Daniel Langemeyer and Andreas Hemmer won the wager. They somersaulted onto a table and remained standing – with 50 gymnasts in all!
